Most kitchen cabinets that are installed in new homes are often referred to as "builder grade" with not many bells and whistles. They mostly feature recess panel cabinet doors, no hardware, non-adjustable concealed hinges, particle board drawer boxes with side-mount drawer glides and 1/2" particle board cabinet shelves. Unless you spend thousands more to upgrade, this could be your kitchen style for the next several years.
There are many ways to upgrade or "dress-up" these cabinets including:
One upgrade that can be done quickly and inexpensively is to replace your 1/2" particle board cabinet shelves that over time start to bow or the laminate starts to peel away as water damages the finish. Cabinet Doors 'N' More now offers replacement kitchen Cabinet Shelving and offers the best features available so you'll never have to change these out.
Make sure you measure twice before ordering. You'll want to measure the width and depth of your wall or base cabinets to the nearest 1/16". Shelving for kitchen base cabinets are not as deep as wall cabinets. Why? Because you need better access to the contents of your base cabinets which are normally deeper and can handle more storage. Most standard kitchen cabinets are 24" deep and our base cabinet shelves are 18" deep to allow for better access.
