Thermofoil vs. melamine or laminate: All three materials are moisture-resistant. However, thermofoil offers a seamless, wrapped finish that extends over edges and intricate profiles, providing greater style versatility than many melamine or laminate options. Avoid harsh chemicals: Stay away from lacquer, thinners, bleach, solvents, abrasive products, ammonia-based options, baking soda and wax.
Keep appliances at a safe distance: High heat from ovens, dishwashers and countertop appliances can cause harm to thermofoil (see heat shield above).
